Veld & Vine was born in the heart of Stellenbosch wine country, where founder and cosmetic chemist Dr. Lize van der Merwe noticed something remarkable: the hands of vineyard workers who handled grape pomace daily looked decades younger than their years. This observation sparked five years of research into the extraordinary antioxidant properties of grape seed oil and resveratrol—the compound that gives red wine its legendary health benefits. Today, we partner with three family-owned wine estates to upcycle their grape pomace (the skins, seeds, and stems left after pressing), transforming what was once agricultural waste into potent skincare actives. We've married these vineyard treasures with wild-harvested botanicals from the Karoo—Africa's ancient semi-desert where plants have evolved remarkable protective compounds to survive extreme conditions. Our Franschhoek production facility operates on 100% renewable energy, and we're proud to be South Africa's first carbon-negative skincare brand. Every jar tells a story of terroir, tradition, and transformation.
