Story

Whisker Republic exists because cats are not small dogs—yet the pet industry often treats them that way. Founded by feline nutritionist Dr. Sarah Nkosi and her impossibly fussy Maine Coon, Chairman Meow, we create food that meets cats' unique biological needs as obligate carnivores. Cats require higher protein, specific amino acids like taurine, and moisture-rich diets that kibble simply cannot provide. After Chairman Meow rejected 47 commercial foods (yes, she counted), Sarah started cooking for him—and discovered other cat parents were equally frustrated. Today, we produce small-batch wet foods using human-grade South African proteins, with recipes formulated to support urinary health, hairball control, and the hydration that prevents so many feline health issues. Our Durban kitchen produces just 500 units per batch to ensure freshness and quality control. We're unapologetically cat-only, because cats have earned their reputation as discerning—and we respect that.
